    What is Ampyra used for?

Ampyra is used to help adults with multiple sclerosis (MS) walk more easily. Multiple sclerosis can lead to mobility issues which can limit independence and can make falls more common. It is a potassium channel blocker that helps the nerves send messages to the body. The walking disability in adults occurs with 3 quarters of people with MS and is considered one the hardest parts of managing the condition.

    Ampyra Information

What is the dosage of Ampyra?

This comes in 10mg tablets that are taken orally, without food, twice a day. It is recommended to take your dose 12 hours apart. Your dose is based on your needs and your condition, age and weight are considered.

Do not take extra doses expecting quicker improvement. Taking too much of the drug can increase your risk of side effects. Do not share this with others, even if they have similar symptoms. This may not be an effective treatment and can cause health risks.

The tablets need to be swallowed whole. They are not intended to be crushed, chewed, split or dissolved in liquids. Ingesting the full dose at once, instead of over time as intended, can cause seizures and other health risks

    How Ampyra works?

Your body is controlled by impulses that tell your muscles when to move. Multiple sclerosis affects how the nerves communicate with your body. The protective coating around the nerves is damaged which causes muscle stiffness, weakness and difficulty walking.

Fampyra helps these impulses bypass the damaged coating and reach your muscles. This helps improve walking and prevents the muscles from stiffening.
