What is Advair Diskus used for?
Advair Diskus is a long acting inhaler prescribed to manage and prevent shortness of breath and wheezing associated with asthma and treatment of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). It’s function is to make breathing easier by relaxing the muscles in the airways and treating asthma in patients. This is a combination of Fluticasone propionate (corticosteroid) / Salmeterol (salbutamol beta 2 agonist). Depending on your condition these two medications can work better to control asthma and COPD symptoms better than when they are used alone. Breathing problems can disrupt one's personal, social and professional life. This is generally taken long term to reduce these symptoms and can help to prevent worsening of symptoms. It is important to keep taking this medication even if you feel better as symptoms can return if you cease taking this without first consulting your doctor. One of the most common doses is Advair Diskus 250/50 mcg and Advair HFA.
