What is Symbicort Turbuhaler used for?
Symbicort Turbuhaler is a combination of budesonide and formoterol that work to reduce the symptoms of asthma, COPD or chronic bronchitis. They work together to help these symptoms and breathing problems in different ways. Budesonide ( a corticosteroid) is responsible for reducing inflammation that makes breathing difficult. Formoterol (a bronchodilator) Helps to open up the airways by relaxing the muscles. These work better as a combination than either would working alone. This medication is not recommended for treating asthma attacks as it will not work quickly enough to be effective. This is meant to treat the symptoms of asthma and long term COPD and prevent asthma attacks. This is often used for asthma that is severe and difficult to control. You may be taken off this once your asthma symptoms are better controlled. Talk with your doctor if this is being used for a different condition so you know what this is supposed to treat. This is generally recommended for individuals 12 years of age or older.
