What is Travatan Z (Travoprost) used for?
Travoprost is used for the treatment of high pressure inside the eye. This pressure is often due to open-angle glaucoma or other eye diseases. Lowering high pressure in the eyes can prevent blindness. Travatan works by regulating the flow of fluid in the eye to maintain a normal pressure.

How To Use Travatan Z?
Read any information given with this medication before you start taking it and whenever you get a refill. Apply Travatan to the affected eye as directed by your doctor. Usually once daily in the evening. Do not use Travatan more often as it won’t work as well.
To apply eye drops, wash your hands first. Do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch any other surface in order to avoid contamination.
Ensure you remove your contact lenses before using Travatan. There is a preservative that can be absorbed by your contact lenses. Wait about 15 minutes after using Travatan before you replace your lenses. Tilt your head back, look upwards and pull down the lower eyelid. Hold the dropper over your eye and put one drop in your eye. Look downward and close your eyes for a minute or two. Place one finger at the corner of your eye near the nose and apply gentle pressure. This prevents the medication from draining out. Do not rub your eye and try not to blink.
Repeat these steps for your other eye if prescribed. Don’t rinse the dropper. Replace the dropper cap each time you use. If you are using another type of eye medication, wait at least 5 minutes before applying the second medication. Use eye drops before eye ointments. It is important to continue using Travatan even when you feel well as most people with glaucoma do not have symptoms.

- Eye pain
- Itching eye
- Redness of the eye
- Redness, swelling, or itching of eyelid
Less Common
- Blurred or decreased vision
- Burning, dry, or itching eyes
- Eye color changes
- Redness, pain, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
Some side effects are more minor and do not need medical attention. You only need to bring these side effects up with your doctor if they become bothersome.

- Acid or sour stomach (heartburn or indigestion)
- Blood in the urine
- Chest pain or tightness
- Dry eyes
- Eye discharge or excessive tearing
- Faintness or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position
- Loss of bladder control
- Lower back pain
- Muscle pain or stiffness
- Pain, swelling, or redness in the joints
- Pain or burning while urinating
- Pelvic pain
- Slow or irregular heartbeat (less than 50 beats per minute)
