What is Invega (Paliperidone) used for?
Invega is an atypical antipsychotic medication used to treat mood disorders such as schizoaffective disorder in adults and schizophrenia. It can help to lower incidences of hallucinations and allows for clearer thinking, decreased agitation and improved self image. These symptoms can impact one’s ability to positively engage in everyday life. It regulates the natural chemicals in the brain that affect mood. It is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

How to Use Invega?

Invega can be applied as a tablet or an injection. Your dose may change based on your medical condition and the results of treatment of schizophrenia. Do not take Invega if you are pregnant or nursing as it can hard the unborn child and may cause withdrawal symptoms in newborns.
Invega is not approved for elderly patients with dementia. If you have a family history of diabetes you may need to be monitored taking Invega for high blood sugar. Individuals, particularly the elderly, with a history of low white blood cell counts or heart problems need to have their blood monitored regularly while taking Invega.
