    What is Selegiline used for?

Selegiline is used to treat symptoms of parkinson disease. Selegiline does not cure Parkinson’s disease but it improves your range of motion and improves your ability to walk, get dressed and exercise. Selegiline improves the shakiness, muscle stiffness and loss of movement associated with Parkinson’s disease.
Selegiline is a MAO inhibitor which works by preventing the breakdown of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain which assists with movement and normal function.

    Selegiline Information

    How to use Selegiline?

Always read and understand the patient information guide provided with the product before you begin taking Selegiline. When you buy Selegiline online from Your Canada Drug Store, we always send the products in the manufacturer’s packaging.

This is usually taken in combination with other medicines to treat Parkinson’s disease.  Selegiline is taken by mouth twice daily in the morning and at midday.  If taken late in the day it can affect your ability to sleep.  Take Selegiline exactly as prescribed.  It may take a few weeks before you see the full benefit.  Do not stop taking it unless advised to do so by your doctor.

Selegiline can cause some persons to fall asleep suddenly during their normal daily activities.  This can occur at any time during your therapy with Selegiline even if you have been taking it for a long time.  If you experience sudden sleepiness, do not drive or perform any activity which requires your full attention.

This should not be used with MAO inhibitors as it can increase your risk of experiencing serotonin syndrome. Your doctor and pharmacist can advise you if you have other conditions requiring treatment. Other medicines such as levodopa carbidopa may improve your condition when used in combination.
